About County Clare
County Clare is one of Ireland's 32 counties (26 in the Republic of Ireland and 6 in Northern Ireland).
It is located in the west of the country between Galway and Kerry and has al long coastline on the Atlantic ocean and Shannon Estuary.
Some famous geographical features of the county include The Cliffs of Moher, The Ailwee Caves and The Burren which is a unique limestone landscape containing plants not found elsewhere in Europe.
The main towns in the county are Ennis, Kilrush, Kilkee, Killaloe, Ennistymon, Lahinch and Ballyvaughan.
It is mainly an agricultural county with some industry at various locations including Shannon Airport.
Tourism is a major feature with Bunratty Castle, Ailwee Caves, The Burren and The Cliffs of Moher being among the main attractions.
Traditional Music and Culture as seen at The Willie Clancy Festival in Milltown Malbay and at other places including Doolin is another attraction.
Golf is popular in Clare which has many good courses including the world famous Doonbeg and Lahinch courses.
There are some excellent beaches around the coast including at Kilkee, Spanish Point and Lahinch. Fishing and watersports is also popular at these locations and in the Killaloe and Mountshannon aresa around Lough Derg.
